Starlight Dancer
Starlight dancer was my first collection inspired by ballroom dancing. I have always been inspired by how garments can create beautiful movement especially through dance. I wanted to create a dance wear collection that would shimmer and have beautiful style lines to make any dancer feel confident while also creating movement through the garments.
Shows & Events
I got to showcase my work in three different fashion shows in 2018. I first showed at the Art Institute of Schaumburg. Following being invited to show my work during Chicago fashion week; then ending with showing at the Art Institute of Chicago fashion show.
The process of making the collection
Oddly enough my first collection was in a way made by accident. The first dress I ever made as a designer was a project I worked on outside of class for myself. I wanted to make a dress for one of my up incoming dance performances. After I had made the gold and silver dress I had another performance and fabric left over so I decided to make another dress. One event led to another and by that time I had three dresses that were quite cohesive so I decided to make them a collection. This first collection was a wonderful experience because, it gave me a lot of exposure not just to design but also getting my name out in the industry.
The Dress that started it all
The dress that started the collection was the gold and silver dress which was the focal piece for this collection, and took the longest to make because of the complicated style lines. But that is what I find to be my specialty I enjoy how certain lines or shapes on the body can create movement for the eye.
